- Inhalt:
- The unit will be delivered through a combination of lectures and computer-based accompanying assigments. Students will use higher-level programming languages to manipulate numerical models provided by the organizers. We will discuss typical model errors and provide strategies for error minimization. At the end of the course, students will develop their own simple models to address a scientific problem of their choice.

- Content: Biodiversity of fishes will be explored with a focus on the following aspects: Life-history strategies with respect to habitat, trophic level, growth and reproduction; Introduction to concepts of sustainable fisheries. The course will also provide an introduction to the usage of the FishBase information system (www.fishbase.org)
Goal: Understanding of ecology, biodiversity, and evolution of fishes and there resilience to fishing.
