Post-graduate education in Marine Sciences: Integrated School of Ocean Sciences (ISOS)

ISOS educational offers are supplementary to the curricular programmes in marine sciences and are focused on interdisciplinary training and development of personal skills for a scientific career.
Offers for all interested participants
- In the interdisciplinary Lecture Series “The BIG questions”, senior scientists identify the open research questions in their field and give insights on future developments.
- Career Evenings: Network personally with invited guests from industry, policy-making, NGOs, environmental regulators etc. and be inspired by their career paths.
- During “Meet the Prof” events you can network with top-level international scientists visiting Kiel. Find out what they think are the top challenges in their field and what it takes to make a career in sciences.
- Workshops on key themes are periodically conducted by us in association with partners inside and out of the University.

Courses on Offer
Through choosing to join the ISOS, candidates gain access to additional training, mentoring, multidisciplinary exposure, financial incentives and activities that supplement their disciplinary research. ISOS courses are tailored to the interdisciplinary PhD community, and several are developed on request of PhD candidates. The courses are continually updated and new events being planned so please look in periodically. Registered ISOS PhDs have priority in our courses.

If your supervisor or one co-supervisor is a member of the Cluster of Excellence “The Future Ocean”, you are eligible to join our PhD Programme irrespective of your funding source
Participation is voluntary, based on your perception of tangible added value for your research and career
