The GEOMAR-Library - A Place, A Portal, A Partner

The GEOMAR Library has become one of the biggest marine science libraries in Germany and is internationally recognized as the repository of a wealth of information on marine sciences and meteorology.

The library has an extensive stock of print and electronic monographs and journals covering all branches of marine research and related sciences (10.000 titles, 794 open serials). In addition, the library has a considerable stock of old expedition reports and other rare books valuable for historical studies.

The GEOMAR Library provides access for library users to a variety of electronic journals and databases like Web of Science, ASFA, FishBase and Georef, all of which can be searched through the homepage of the library.

The library provides a number of services to members of the GEOMAR community, f.e. comprehensive reference-section assistance and training on-demand in database use, document delivery services, digital processing center services such as copying, scanning, and graphic design.

The GEOMAR Libraries on the West shore and East shore are open to the public and all residents of Kiel and its surrounding areas.
