GEOMAR |  Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel is active in all essential fields of modern marine research.

The Data and Computing Centre of GEOMAR is responsible for information and communications technologies:  Central administration of an extensive server park running EDP Services ranging from high performance computing  to office applications, networking and network security of approx. 750 work stations, connection to scientific network XWIN via Kiel University and the internet as well as to data management and web presence.

The hardware consists of computers of all sizes from high performance computers to PCs.
