Research interests

As a member of the working group "Marine Geobiology" I am investigating the impact of microbial processes on the genesis and dissolution of rocks. My research focuses on microbially facilitated carbonate precipitation in marine sediments. In this context I am investigating different microbial processes on laboratory bacteria cultures as well as on natural communities in sediment cores. Another core interest is the investigation of biological processes with regard to their impact on early diagenesis of biogenic carbonate archives.
