Senckenberg
Chief scientist:
Saskia Brix

34 researchers led by Dr. Saskia Brix of the Senckenberg Society are investigating the various marine habitats around Iceland during the expedition SO276 (MerMet 17-6). On board is the ROV KIEL 6000 of GEOMAR. Due to the massive corona-induced changes, all external scientific partners who could not be taken on board were integrated via a dedicated video line to the ship by telepresence. This concept is based on a cooperation between MARUM (Bremen) and GEOMAR and uses the infrastructure of both institutes. The Senckenberg team is responsible for the editorial work and management on board. Thanks to this technology not only researchers but all interested people can follow the dives of the ROV KIEL 6000 live.
