North Atlantic Nest at 1/20°

To investigate the effects of Greenland melting onto the North Atlantic circulation and Atlantic Meridional Overturning, a 1/20° nest of the polar/subpolar North Atlantic is hosted in a global ocean at 1/4° (ORCA025). The very fine resolution in this region is necessary to allow the representation of narrow rim currents and mesoscale eddies in the Labrador Sea.

Simulations were finished in 2014.The successor configuration, covering the whole Atlantic, will be GOCART20 (starting in summer 2015).
