Our interdisciplinary research contributes to various national- and international science programmes. We coordinate the DFG-funded Priority Program „Climate Engineering: Risks, Challenges, Opportunities?“ (SPP 1689). The Collaborative Research Centre „Climate Biogeochemistry Interactions in the Tropical Ocean“ (SFB 754), also coordinated by us, was successfully completed in 2020.
Besides closely collaborating with other research units of GEOMAR we are actively involved in various research activities with Kiel University and Kiel Institute for the World Economy, and the Network "The Future Ocean". Important for our research is also the intensive collaboration with national and international partners.
Our team consists of scientists and students with different scientific backgrounds covering various fields such as marine biology and ecology, chemistry, physics or mathematics aiming for understanding the impacts of global change.
