Marine Geocientific Investigations of the Input and Output on the  Kermadec Subduction Zone

Project period: 1/1/2007 - 30/4/2009

Sponsored by: BMBF

Participating InstitutsIFG KielGNS

The project MANGO (Marine Geoscientific Investigations of the Input and Output on the Kermadec Subduction Zone) is a German-New Zealand multidisciplinary joint mission. Geophysical studies are aimed at quantifying the mass transfer along the Kermadec subduction zone. Cruise SO192 of RV SONNE is dedicated to issues of material transfer and mass balancing as well as the variation in crustal structure of the northern and southern Kermadec island arc.
