The ‘Fascination Deep Sea’ anniversary year at the German Maritime Museum in Bremerhaven will conclude with the ‘Long Night of the Deep Sea’. On 8 November 2025, visitors can look forward to a highlight at 6 p.m.: the premiere screening of a historical silent film about the METEOR expedition, accompanied by a specially composed live soundtrack performed by the Simon Quinn Orchestra on double bass, drums, saxophone and piano.
The event will open with a live stream from Prof. Dr Antje Boetius, followed by a panel discussion with deep-sea expert Dr Frank Wenzhöfer from the Alfred Wegener Institute and scientists from the German Maritime Museum (research museum of the Leibniz Association). Next, artist and curator Felix Sattler will invite you to a multisensory deep listening session in which fragments from literature and science will be made tangible in a new way.
