Helmholtz Forum Earth and Environment

The Helmholtz Forum Earth and Environment (formerly SynCom) bundles the expertise of the seven Helmholtz Earth and Environment Centers and acts as an interface between research, politics, and additional societal actors by specifically incorporating current findings from environmental and Earth system research into political discourse and highlighting evidence-based solutions and action options so that cutting-edge environmental research is effectively taken into account in public debates and decisions.

 

Aim of Helmholtz Forum E&E

​​​​The Helmholtz Forum E&E connects 7 Centres and 9 Topics for a larger societal impact. It supports the programme „Changing Earth – Sustaining our Future“ with Centre- and Topic-overarching networking activities:

Vision

The Helmholtz Forum E&E contributes significantly to a closely networked research field with scientists who jointly tackle the major challenges of Earth system research and environmental research. Through scientific synthesis, actionable knowledge is generated - with the aim of influencing solutions to the major challenges of our time.

Mission

The Helmholtz Forum E&E networks scientists from all seven centers in the Helmholtz Research Field Earth and Environment in order to penetrate the complexity of Earth system research through scientific synthesis and to contribute actionable knowledge to the exchange with stakeholders from politics and industry.

Anchor persons

The anchor persons support the Helmholtz Forum E&E activities and build contacts within their Helmholtz centres. The anchor persons at GEOMAR are Maike Nicolai, Beate Slaby and Frauke Pescheck.
