Science & Shopping in Kiel

On Saturday, April 18, 2026, Kiel’s main shopping street will transform into an open forum for research and discovery under the theme “Science in the Holtenauer”. Between 11 am and 2.30 pm, around 20 scientists from Kiel’s universities and research institutions will present their current research in an engaging and entertaining way. Visitors can look forward to fascinating topics, surprising insights and the opportunity to interact directly with the researchers.

The GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel will also be in attendance:

Ralph Gäbler will be providing insights into the intersection of marine research and medicine on behalf of the BlueHealthTech project. BlueHealthTech supports and promotes innovative approaches that apply marine research findings to health research.
You can find Blue Health Tech starting at 11.45 am at Elektro Lübke, Holtenauer Straße 15-17, and at Schuh Heinrich starting at 1.15 pm, Holtenauer Straße 14.

Visitors along Holtenauer Straße can also look forward to a diverse programme featuring numerous themed stalls, hands-on activities and discussions with researchers from various disciplines. You can access the programme via the following link:
