Smart AUV-based Magnetics
Within SAM (Smart AUV-based Magnetics), we develop smart and truly autonomous systems for the AUV(Autonomous Underwater Vehicle)-based detection of ferromagnetic objects like underwater UXO (UneXploded Ordnance). Based on in situ magnetic measurements, SAM will autonomously determine the next waypoints or entire search patterns of the AUV.
The aim of SAM is a fully autonomous detection, localisation, investigation, and assessment of magnetic anomalies including the generation of a report for each individually investigated target.
Possible applications of SAM are a fully automated detection of offshore UXO, pipeline/cable tracking, or monitoring of sea lanes and harbors.
