HX Epedition partners with GEOMAR and AWI to host guest scientists on selected voyages. Scientists join ongoing expeditions as embedded researchers - contributing to data collection, sharing their expertise with guests, and supporting science operations on board
This is not a tourism offer. It is an opportunity to conduct research within an operational expedition environment while engaging with an international audience interested in science and polar regions.
- Science & Public Engagement: Deliver at least one lecture for guests. Support the expedition team in communicating scientific insights.
- Real-World Research Environment: Conduct field measurements during active expedition routes in polar and subpolar regions on repeat transects.
- Collaborative Infrastructure: Work alongside onboard science and expedition teams. Integration into existing measurement systems possible.
Expectations:
- At least one public lecture during the voyage
- Optional interactive workshop or hands-on session
- Proactive coordination prior to embarkation
- Compliance with maritime safety regulations
- Adaptability within a running expedition schedule
- Financing of travel to and from the vessel
