Ocean-Atmosphere Interaction

The air-sea interface is one of the largest interfaces on Earth. Through exchange of energy and matter, the ocean exerts a major control on physical and chemical properties of the atmosphere and, in turn, is influenced by atmospheric processes. Ocean-atmosphere interaction is therefore a major component of the Earth system.
