Pilot Study: Azerbaijan Transition Zone

The general scope of this pilot study is the assessment of new technological concepts to investigate the hydrocarbon potential in the offshore/onshore “Transition Zone” of the Caspian Sea southeast of Baku, Azerbaijan. The area is known as a high-risk area in terms of natural hazards like mud volcano eruptions or subsurface sediment deformation as well as abandoned and defunct offshore installations. However, the area in general is also known for oil- and gas-prone source rocks.
