June 10 - 20, 2014: HOSST Summer School 2014

“Ocean Seafloor Structures and Dynamics” in Kiel, Germany

on invitation only

This Summer School will focus on seafloor structures and their interaction with the hydro- and biospheres. Particular focus will be on characterizing the processes forming and modifying these structures, the time-scales over which such processes act, and potential variations in their intensity in time and space. We will investigate the importance of seafloor structures for marine environmental protection and also their potential for a range of non-biological resources. The School will be heavily based on practical exercises and real-life examples with a clear end-goal of preparing a play concept for a hypothetical marine protected area proposal suitable for a possible submission to the appropriate governing authority.
