Scientific Interests

Development and usage of novel isotope geochemical tools in modern settings and for paleoceanographic research. A significant proportion of this work involves dedicated calibration of new marine archives.

My current main research interests include

  • Southern Ocean overturning dynamics, Antarctic Bottom Water formation and its export into the deep global ocean basins from sub-millennial to Cenozoic timescales,
  • atmospheric and marine carbon cycling during major climatic perturbations in the past (e.g. Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum, Permian-Triassic Boundary),
  • establishment of new isotope geochemical tracers for the identification of physicochemical weathering conditions in relation to centennial to millennial climatic trends, and
  • deglacial disintegration of the North American Laurentide Ice Sheet. Identification of associated Arctic and North American meltwater re-routing events.

Scientific cruises
