Marine Holobiontenforschung

Meerestiere und Algen/Pflanzen stehen in ständigem Kontakt mit einer großen Anzahl höchst unterschiedlicher Mikroben in ihrer Umgebung. Ihr angeborenes Immunsystem gibt ihnen die Möglichkeit, zwischen Mikroorganismen zu unterscheiden, unabhängig davon, ob diese symbiotischer, kommensaler oder pathogener Natur sind. Marine Holobionten sind ideale Modelle für die Untersuchung von Prokaryonten-Eukaryonten-Interaktionen. In enger Zusammenarbeit mit unseren nationalen und internationalen Partnern übertragen wir unsere Methoden und Konzepte auf andere marine Wirt-Mikroben-Systeme.
