RESEARCH INTERESTS

I am interested in microbial ecology and in the interactions between microbes and macrobes. For my PhD project at GEOMAR I am studying the Red Alga Agarophyton vermiculophyllum (synonym: Gracilaria vermiculophylla), which is native to the North West Pacific and has been introduced to the European and North American coastal ecosystems. One of my goals is to learn how microbes support this organism to be a prolific invader. At the same time I aim to address fundamental questions related to microbial community ecology by combining descriptive and experimental approaches.
