Öffentlicher Abendvortrag von Prof. Dr. J. Bruce Gemmell im Rahmen der Preisverleihung

As under developed nations strive to become developed nations and the world’s population grows at a steady rate, mineral resource supplies have become a global issue. For most of human history, developed countries have consumed far more than their per capita share of world mineral production. While Germany is the largest consumer of mineral resources in Europe, China has become the largest consumer of mineral resources globally. Hence, there is the possibility that we will run out of the minerals soon as demand far exceeds supply. While part of our society seeks a significant reduction in new mineral production via conservation and recycling, others believe that mineral exploration will always find new resources that can meet demand.
