This device is a so-called "FAST GC". The gas chromatograph is operated with hydrogen as carrier gas and a customised capillary column is used to separate the target components.

This analysis currently allows the measurement of 44 fatty acid methyl esters (C₄-C₂₄) in the quantity range 2-100 ng per component. One analysis takes 11-13 minutes.
