The practical course at sea is part or the University module "Measurement Methods" and is a contribution to the Bachelor Program "Physics of the Earth system". It includes the instruction and practical implementation of "typical work" of physical oceanographers at sea. The work to be carried out includes profile measurements (ADCP, CTD), ocean/atmosphere interaction (meteorological sensors and parallel measurements with handsets), mooring operations (including handling of sensors), and reference measurements for sensor calibration (salinometer, psychrometer). In addition, it is desirable that the students gain a deeper understanding of the physical processes of the Baltic sea, the "sea on their doorstep". The work on board will be carried out alternately at stations where groups of 2 to 3 students work. Each group has a supervisor at the stations that oversees the execution of the experiments. Besides data and experiment analysis, the students participate in the preparation of the cruise report. The module (NMFconcludes with an oral exam, which is typically done in the last exam period of the summer semester and justifies the proposed timerrame (July to september).
